Position: Embedded Software Engineer

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Job Purpose:

Write, troubleshoot, and append embedded software for new and existing design projects

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write embedded software per customer or Product Management specification, primarily in C or C++
  • Software support for internal design group
  • Assist in new product documentation
  • Write/modify embedded code
  • Collaborate with other electrical engineers
  • Working knowledge of Assembly Code Language (Legacy)
  • Basic understanding of component level electrical hardware
  • Understanding microcontroller communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)

Scope:

Complete all tasks defined above and required by management to help create an environment to smoothly and efficiently develop new products and help support them. Also, you will work with Engineering and coordinate with other departments within Functional Devices to further expand our market base.

Qualifications:

  1. Four-year college degree in EET, ECET, C&IT, Computer Science or related field (3.0 of 4 GPA required)
  2. Live or relocate within 35-mile radius of Functional Devices
  3. Limited travel may be required
  4. Excellent communication skills

Desired:

  1. Experience with 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit microcontrollers
  2. HTML, Java, Python experience
